Harald Hofmann, who works as a fire safety coordinator for the fire safety management firm FSC Arbeits- und Brandschutzmanagement, explains why he uses iCL: “Customisation was one of the most important criteria for us when choosing Opti-Q’s fire safety app. Although I work with a predefined inspection plan, we often have an additional support plan that doesn’t exclusively refer to fire safety. iCL allows me to easily add these inspection items to a property – to examine the work of a cleaning contractor, for instance. Before we worked with iCL, we used to write down those inspection items on slips of paper. That took much more time and was more prone to errors.”

Although saving an enormous amount of time with iCL was a major plus, Florian Sicheritz goes on to explain that another factor was even more decisive. “With a digital solution, I save around 20 minutes on each property inspection. That adds up to 240 hours a year that we save thanks to iCL. But what’s more important to us than the time saved is the documentation and hence the legal certainty it ensures in the event of fire damage. With iCL, we can precisely track which defects we have logged and highlighted as well as how and whether they have been remedied,” he says.

Offline and easy to use

“It’s important to us for the solution to work offline and for me to be able to access all the data from the previous inspection in the system. It’s very easy to create new properties. The saved photos, the site plan and the fire safety plan allow us to instantly find our way around a new property. That’s helpful, particularly when filling in for colleagues who are out sick or on holiday,” says Harald Hofmann, emphasising the strengths of the fire safety app.

“Definitely we do as inspectors, during every inspection,” says fire safety coordinator Hofmann happily. “I can create a larger amount of master data, which saves me and my colleague a lot of time. And our customers benefit from the fact that the reports are now more visually appealing and comprehensible. The most important features of all to us and our customers are defect traceability and current status.”

Florian Sicheritz’s three-person team is responsible for construction site supervision and providing support for dealing with government agencies, including developing fire safety concepts and managing building control applications. Since 2014, his company FSC has also been involved in safety coordination and fire protection. FSC conducts inspections in Vienna and Lower Austria. The company currently manages around 60 residential, office and high-security properties.
